I'm having to replace both lower a-arms and need to know if anyone has pulled the front axles from the hub to get lower ball joint out.. I read a post to where someone ground down the stud and was able to get the ball joint out without removing the axle, but I can't see that being done.. Couldn't be to hard pulling the axle back from the hub to remove lower ball joint with a-arm should it ? Thanks

OK last question.. How is the ball joint held in the a-arm ? Haven't torn into it, just looking.. Looks like the top of it is hex head with a snap ring so was wondering if it threads out/in or if it's pressed in/out.. Looks like it would be pressed out from the top but couldn't fiqure out why the top is hex head.. Any pointer's..... Thanks

Press fit, I have not tried a ball joint tool on it but it should work with the proper adapters.

What ball joints you putting back in it? EPI goes for about $45 / side..

Just putting the originals back into the 2 new lower arms I'm replacing.. They only have about 430 miles on them since new.. 25 hrs/ 430 miles and 2 bent arms, blown belt, and massive oil leak at case halves at rear of engine and above oil filter ? And it's 2 months out of warranty and cannot get ahold of any at A/C ? Wondering what I got myself into ?

Call your dealer and talk about the oil leaks this is a common problem with the older units. Do a search for it many have had it replaced under warranty even thou it was out.

Mine was 8 months out of warranty with 580 miles and my dealer handled everything. No money out of my pocket at all. The turn around time was 3 weeks. No fuss at all. In fact he was very apologetic. Talk with your dealer.
